pest 3/3/22 – gtg

Bedbugs are a growing concern in North America.

A female bedbug lays 5 eggs per day and up to 500 eggs in her lifetime.
The eggs hatch in about 6-17 days and become fertile adults in about 21 days. Based on this, one bedbug can become several thousand in the course of a few months.
Once established, bedbugs can be very difficult to eliminate. They hide in tiny spaces and emerge to feed at night. Worst of all, eggs survive most conventional treatments. For this reason, new solutions have been developed, including heat treatment which we offer as one of our treatment methods.
Bedbugs can live in clothing, furniture, and suitcases and can be transported between locations for example between a hotel and your home.

Bedbugs cause psychological and physical harm by leaving itchy bites and spreading panic.

PREVENTION

If you suspect you may have had bedbugs in your hotel, on your return home place your luggage in your garage or bathroom. Bedbugs don’t like the tiled floor and will be easier to spot the bugs.
You can put all clothing in the washing machine, including those you are wearing, as soon as you return home, put on a hot wash, and tumble dry at high heat. The temperature will kill any bedbugs that may be hiding in them.
Regular Vacuuming can reduce the population of bedbugs significantly. Be sure to empty the vacuum and place it outside in the garbage immediately.
Mattress encasements – we can order and supply mattress and box spring encasements for your home. The encasements are bite-proof, and they keep bedbugs out of your mattress and box spring.
Wrap your suitcases in plastic wrap when traveling. This can prevent the transfer of bedbugs from other people’s luggage when traveling on buses or airplanes.

SIGNS OF BEDBUGS

Bites on your skin, although it is difficult to differentiate between a bedbug bite and any other insect bite.
Droppings – Evidence of dark spots staining the mattress is a sign that you have a bedbug infestation. The spots will be tiny <1mm but can be easy to notice if you have a heavy infestation.
Live Insects – Bedbugs are 4-7mm long and visible to the naked eye. Mostly spotted at night time, they feed in the few hours before dawn.
Blood – Bedbugs feed on your blood. If you notice small spots of blood on your mattress, bedsheets, or pajamas, this may be a sign that you have a bedbug infestation.
Bedbug Skin – Each bedbug molts its skin 5 times in its lifetime. These can sometimes be spotted behind your headboard and on your box spring or mattress.

IDENTIFYING BEDBUGS

Visual inspection – Our technicians are trained and experienced in visually inspecting for bedbugs. Identifying the tell-tale signs of an infestation, and distinguishing a bedbug from other bugs which are often confused with bedbugs.
Dog inspection – We have access to an excellent bedbug sniffer dog that can identify the presence of bedbugs, without needing the visual confirmation that can sometimes be hard to locate. Trained K9s can detect odors completely unnoticeable to humans. Download a copy of the preparation sheet which must be followed before the K9 team enters your home.

HOW WE TREAT

Chemical Treatment – We can provide chemical treatment to your home/apartment for bedbugs. You will need to download a preparation sheet and follow the list of requirements carefully. The closer you follow the preparation guidelines, the better chance we have of eradicating the bedbugs in as few treatments as possible.
Due to the nature of bedbugs, you will need a minimum of two chemical treatments. The second one will be booked 14 days after the first. In some cases, more treatments will be needed at 2-week intervals.
Download a copy of the datasheet for the chemical we use to treat bedbugs.
Heat Treatment – Another extremely effective way to treat bedbugs is by using heat. The Heat Assault Unit 500X can maintain an indoor temperature of 150F, which ensures that all bedbugs and their eggs are exterminated. The high efficiency of the unit allows us to treat multiple apartments at the same time.
We highly recommend our company to carry out any heat treatments; we have a great success rate with the elimination of bedbugs. We are very knowledgeable in the field and can answer any questions you may have about the process. You can contact us by calling the office.
The AGES Heat Assault system uses two trailer-mounted diesel-fired furnaces that create a redundant loop. This eliminates the possibility of system shutdowns during heat treatments. A high-efficiency pump circulates non-toxic glycol through hoses and a series of heat exchangers. There is no fire hazard and the glycol is non-toxic. The system also allows us to perform bedbug heat treatments in a significantly shorter time than our competitors. It also eliminates the need to vacate the premises for extended periods of time.
Their heat treatment unit allows us to heat areas up to 5,000 square feet at a time, and the fan system circulates the heat into all furniture and into cracks and crevices. When directed towards the walls, and the temperature is raised quickly enough, experience has shown that bedbugs will not escape through the walls and will remain in the target area.
Temperature probes are distributed throughout the affected area and monitored remotely. Once the temperature has reached 125F for over 30 minutes, all eggs, larvae, pupae, and adult insects will be killed. The room is kept up to temperature for approximately 3 hours to allow heat to penetrate the furniture and walls.

It is utilized for the control of pests in buildings, soil, grain, and produce, and is also used during the processing of goods to be imported or exported to prevent the transfer of exotic organisms.

There are different types of fumigation services, and the one you should choose will depend on the type of infestation and the extent of the problem. In general terms, there are two types of fumigation; either by poisonous gas, or pesticides. Because the most commonly used fumigants are toxic to all forms of life, it is possible to control most pests using this one treatment method. It is also the most rapid form of treatment method, as compared to the normal baiting and residual spraying method. To find out more about our Fumigation Services, please call us today. Pest problems can be annoying and dangerous. Whether its ants in your cupboards, or rats on the roof of your house, you may need to call a pest control services company to eliminate the problem. When pests take over business premises such as restaurants or food storage companies, they can be a health hazard. In such cases, pest fumigation may be the only solution. Cockroaches are common culprits, and they are not fussy about what habitat they encroach upon. Apparently, there is only one type of food that a cockroach will not eat. Its cucumber! Everything else is on the menu. Cockroaches are found in homes and businesses, and they are a real menace. They crawl in, fly in, eat anything and everything they can find and, of course, they breed. Cockroaches, if left unchecked, can cause health problems to humans. Food poisoning has also been linked to pest infestations, particularly cockroaches. They secrete allergens which can be very dangerous for people who suffer from respiratory problems.

There are however other pests that cause destruction in a home or business premises. These include fleas, bees, wasps, bed bugs, spiders, rodents, and termites. If the pest control company cannot solve the problem with chemical sprays, pest fumigation may be recommended. Pest fumigation is a pest control method that fills an entire building with fumigants that will either poison or suffocate the pests inside. It is often the only way to get rid of termites and wood-boring insects that are causing extensive damage to wooden areas in a home or factory. The building to be fumigated is first completely covered with large tarpaulins or tents. The fumigant is then released inside the building. The building will remain covered for a certain period of time. This allows the fumigant to penetrate all areas and kill the pests. After this, the building is ventilated so that the poison can disperse. It will then be safe for humans to re-enter the premises. The reason for the tarpaulins is to prevent the fumigant from escaping and causing potential harm to neighboring people/buildings. The pest fumigation process can take up to a week to complete, depending on the level of infestation and the size of the building. Methyl bromide was the most commonly used fumigant until it was banned because it harms the ozone layer. Present-day fumigants include phosphine, chloropicrin, hydrogen cyanide, methyl isocyanate, iodoform, sulfuryl fluoride, and iodoform. A popular choice among many pest control services is sulfuryl fluoride. Sulfuryl fluoride has the ability to kill pests at any stage of their lives, including eggs. It does not harm the ozone layer and it is not associated with the dangers of phosphine. Sulfuryl fluoride is used widely as a pest fumigant to control dry wood termites that thrive in warm climates. It is also effective for the eradication of bark beetles, powder post beetles, rodents, and bed bugs. Pest fumigation is a dangerous operation. It must be carried out by competent personnel or registered pest control companies that are in possession of the correct certification that allows them to perform pest fumigation operations.

Fumigation is the most commonly used method for pest control and elimination. It involves the use of pesticides or pest retardants in gaseous form, referred to as fumigants, to poison pests in a residential area, business complex, or public space that has been infested. Fumigation is also used in agriculture or grain produce to prevent the soil from being infected or during the import and export of goods to get rid of insects, worms, and organisms that might be transported from place to place. While excessive use of chemicals in any form is to be avoided because it may harm human life or structural buildings, the process is not entirely effective in pest elimination, it merely prevents the pests from making their presence once again in the same area. The fumigation process is usually done in a phased manner. As a first step, the entire area that needs fumigation is sealed off or covered. Next, the area is fumigated, i. e. the chemicals are released in the covered space which may be a home, an office, a warehouse or storage complex, underground cellar, ship cargo containers, etc. In the third phase, the fumigant is allowed time to completely fill the enclosed space and kill the pest itself (wood borers, termites) or pest infestations (eggs, larvae). Finally, the area is ventilated with fresh air and sunlight so that no trace of the chemical or gas is left behind. Once this process is completed and a thorough inspection is done, the area is certified pest-free.

Chemicals used in fumigation: Until the Montreal Protocol, an international treaty signed in the late 1980s to protect the Ozone layer of the atmosphere from depletion, was signed the random use of many chemicals was widespread. The widely used fumigant at the time was Methyl Bromide; its production and use were restricted later. The list of fumigants in use includes Formaldehyde Phosphine Chloropicrin Sulfuryl Fluoride Methyl Isocyanate Hydrogen Cyanide.

Methods of fumigation: Broadly, fumigation methods can be categorized into surface and sub-surface. Surface treatments refer to fumigation done on exposed surface areas. Sub-surface refers to treatments where gases or chemicals have to be applied to spaces like soil, cargo containers, storage tanks, etc. Sub-surface fumigation methods are tubing, trenched, short probe, long probe, and combination recirculation. The methods adopted for surface fumigation depend greatly on the situation, circumstance, and the nature of pests and pesticides. For homes, the Tenting Method is used, where a rubber tent is placed to seal off the area. In larger structures like entire buildings, other options that take into account the size of the building and infestation come into play. Fumigants are pesticides that are volatile and exert their toxic action as poisonous gases in an enclosed space. Fumigation is a versatile technique that can be applied in a wide range of situations. It should be undertaken only when management is satisfied that a need to carry out pest control exists, that fumigation is the appropriate process and that the fumigation may be safely and effectively carried out. Fumigation of commodities in the export trade is mandatory for quarantine or contractual reasons.

Fumigation Services are useful where a rapid kill of pests is required and for effective removal of pests from structures into which clean commodities are to be brought. Over the years fumigation has changed rapidly. Our Pest Control is up to date with all procedures and treatments for the fumigation services it provides. MICE

Mice are very dirty creatures and a great source of disease. Sometimes they spread life-taking diseases. I hate this dirty creature. Sometimes they create great trouble in our daily life. They destroy our property. Getting rid of mice is very difficult. Now, I am describing 15 ways to get rid of mice naturally.

Get Rid of Mice Naturally.
Seal All Possible Entries Of Mice: Mice are not very big in size and can enter your house through any narrow hole in your wall. They need to penetrate their head only for walking through a tiny hole. For getting rid of mice you will have to seal those tiny holes. You can
use green kitchen pads for sealing the holes. You have to cut the pads as required shape and seal the hole.

Use Cat Urine for Removing Mice.
You can collect and spread cat urine around the entrance of mice. They fear cats and will leave the house by sniffing the smell of the cat’s urine.

Use Box Trap for Killing Mice.
There are mice trap boxes in the open market. Those boxes contain food locked with a trigger. When a mouse enters through the open door of the box and pulls the food then the trigger closes the door. Then you will have to kill the mice manually.

Use a device with beeps for removing Mice.
There is one type of sound that is very disliked by mice. They hate beeps and stay away from the sound. You can buy a device from the public market. Its price is around $30. See videos from YouTube.

Keep your house clean to keep mice away from home.
If your house contains materials that attract mice, they will definitely come to your house. If your house provides food and shelter, they will start living in your house. So, you have to keep clean your house.

Catch mice and release them away from your house.
This can be effective, but require lots of expertise. You have to throw a towel on the mouse. If you can cover the mouse, it will stay a short period under the towel. At that time you have to put an inverted basket over the mouse and then slide a piece of metal sheet under the towel. Then carry the mouse and release it to a remote place from away from the house.

Use a cat for killing mice.

I think you are a great fan of Tom and Jerry like me. But, the reality is reverse. A cat is a good hunter of mice. They can kill all the mice from your house within a very short time. But, you have to be careful about choosing a real hunter cat. All cats are not good hunters.

Use a barn owl for getting rid of mice.
If you have outdoor mice infestation then barn owls are the most useful natural solution. They are good hunters. They eat mice and hunt for their family.

Use an organic mixture for killing mice.
There are some good and renowned companies who produce mice baits. They are very useful and widely used. You can depend on those baits for killing mice.

Keep the trash cans away from your house

Mice are attracted by trash cans. Those are good sources of food. You should keep those cans away from your house. It will help you keep away mice from your house.

Use snakes excrement for keeping mice away from your house.

Snakes are hunters of mice. So, they fear snakes and try to stay away. You have to collect snakes excrement from a reptile center, pet store, snake charmers, or zoo and spread it around the mice entrances. Mice will think your house has snakes and they will leave that place as early as possible.

Use steel wool pads.
You can prevent mice from using any entrance by sealing it with steel wool pads. Mice cannot cut those pads with their teeth.

Use peppermint oil for removing mice from home.
Mice dislike peppermint oil and stay away from the smell of it. You will have to place one or two drops of peppermint oil on a cotton ball and place it in the areas where mice move. Then they will definitely leave those places.

I hope you will get rid of mice by following any or a few of these techniques. Besides these natural ways to get rid of mice, there have many chemical baits.

Bedbug control is necessary for a bedbug infestation. Bedbugs are commonly found in the bed structure and beddings, though occasionally they may spread to other surrounding areas and furniture. They are most commonly found within the frame of the bed, the headboard, the mattress piping, the seams and tags of the mattress, and within the mattress itself. Bedbugs may come from traveling to other countries or areas and staying in bedbug-infested accommodations. You may also get an infestation from buying used beddings and mattresses that will have these pests.

Signs Of A Bedbug Infestation
Signs you have bedbugs include live bedbugs crawling on the bed or beddings, bite marks on your skin that are itchy and you may also see blood marks on your beddings that come from the bedbugs when you crush them mistakenly while you sleep. Other signs of a bedbug infestation may be the appearance of small dark spots similar to what would be made with a marker pen and the presence of bedbug eggs and eggshells which are white in color and are about a millimeter in size. If you suspect that you may have a bedbug infestation, these are the signs that you can look out for so that you can take the appropriate action. The first thing to do when you find that you have an infestation is to take some form of bedbug control. This means that you have to remove the beddings, mattresses, bed frames, and quarantine these things in one room, if possible, to stop the spread of the bedbugs.

Methods of Bedbug Control
There are different methods that can be used for bedbug control such as chemical methods where a chemical is used to eliminate the bedbugs, non-chemical methods where you use extreme temperatures, either hot or cold, to kill the bedbugs and there are inorganic substances such as diatomaceous earth which are used to kill the bedbugs. Chemical methods of bedbug control are often pesticides in aerosol, powder, or liquid form. The advantage of using this method is that it is fast and easy to use as you just spray or spread the pesticide where necessary. However, the downside of these is that bedbugs have increasingly become resistant to some strains of chemical pesticides which have no effect on them which means you may still have a bedbug problem and it increases the chances of the bedbugs spreading to other areas and furniture in the room. The benefits of using extreme temperatures such as extreme heat or cold are that it is cost-effective and you can do it yourself without calling a professional. However, the disadvantage is that this method of bedbug control takes time because it is recommended that if you are using cold temperatures to get rid of bedbugs, you leave the room with the infestation in cold temperatures for at least four days so that all the bedbugs and bedbug eggs are killed. If you find that you have a bedbug infestation, it is best to call a professional who will use a combination of methods that will ensure that the bedbugs in your home are eliminated totally. A professional exterminator will explain to you the methods that are available and you can discuss those that are acceptable to you. For example, if you are averse to using chemical pesticides because of the presence of children or pets in your home, your exterminator should be able to use other alternatives. The best way to carry out bedbug control is to use a combination of methods. Your elimination technician will work with you to come up with an extermination solution that is acceptable to you and will get rid of the bedbugs permanently. Sometimes follow-up visits may be required especially if not all the bedbugs were eliminated in the first visit.

How To Choose A Bedbug Control Company
When choosing a company that will help you deal with your bedbug problem it is best to go for a company that uses multiple methods such as washing all the infected beddings with very hot water then using a dryer with at least temperatures of 122 degrees Fahrenheit (50 degrees centigrade) to kill the bedbugs. There may be additional treatments for bedbug control such as applying inorganic materials such as diatomaceous earth which dehydrates the bedbugs when it comes into contact with them thus killing them, cedar oil, silica gel, and boric acid which also are effective products that are not chemical-based. These materials are specially placed in the crevices and any cracks of the furniture and walls of the room to ensure that all the bedbugs are thoroughly eliminated. You may also opt to use steam that will be applied on the bed and other furniture so that the bedbugs are killed by the heat or treatments based on cold. Your technician will be able to advise you on the best method of bedbug control to use depending on the magnitude and the intensity of the bedbug infestation in your home. This means that it is best for the technician to carry out an inspection first to determine the level of the infestation. From these, you will be able to receive a quote on the work that will be done while discussing the treatment methods available to you and which ones will work best for your situation. It is also best to contact a company that will provide follow-up treatments and free inspection either for free or at minimal cost until the bedbug problem is thoroughly eliminated.

Insect pest control is a process of minimizing or eliminating undesirable pests from our homes, schools, offices, and even public buildings. The insect control process normally involves using chemical substances commonly referred to as insecticides to prevent them from entering spaces occupied by people. According to research, many homes today face six different types of pest invasions. The six include tick, flea, ant, bed bug, roach, and rodent invasion. The six normally cause a lot of harm when not dealt with at the right time and in the right way.

Six common pest invasions

Tick invasion: Currently, there are more than 70 different species of ticks in America alone. Ticks normally transmit viral and bacterial diseases to both humans and animals which include Lyme disease and encephalitis. To avoid a tick invasion, you must maintain high levels of cleanliness. Some of the basic things which you can do include mowing your grass on a regular basis and taking your pet to the vet for check-ups and cleaning at least once or twice a month.

Flea invasion: Fleas are normally seasonal and normally attack during spring and summer. However, in warm houses, fleas usually live all year. Fleas normally bite humans and animals and in the process transmit dangerous infections. Just like ticks, fleas normally love living in untidy areas. Thus, one of the best ways of dealing with them entails cleaning your home and pets on a regular basis.

Ant invasion: Unlike fleas and ticks, house ants, such as odorous ants, usually cause a lot of destruction to property. Once they gain access to your home, they will easily build up satellite colonies almost everywhere within one to three days. The best way to deal with an ant invasion is to hire a professional exterminator.

Bedbug invasion: just like fleas, bed bugs usually love hiding in warm areas. However, unlike the rest, bed bugs usually feast on blood. The best solution to bedbug problems normally involves hiring an exterminator who is capable of eliminating the invasion and at the same time making follow-up inspections to make certain that the problem is completely solved.

Roaches: if you have spotted one roach in your room, chances are that you have hundreds. Basically, roaches usually multiply at a very high rate and this normally makes it difficult to handle them alone. Roaches usually love hiding in wet, dirty, and even dark areas. Thus, if you have a drainage problem or if your house is not as clean as it ought to be, take the right actions as soon as possible. You can also bring in an exterminator to help you handle the problem before it gets out of hand.

Rodents: Even though they are no insects, rodents are small and can easily contaminate your food supplies. In addition, they can easily bite you and in the process transmit bacterial infections into your system. The best ways of eliminating rodents include cleaning up food spills and repairing cracks and holes around the house. A rodent control professional can also help you overcome a rodent invasion.

Why choose an exterminator?
Many pest control methods are normally challenging and very demanding. For this reason, one is usually advised to seek professional help once he notices a pest invasion. The following are three different advantages of hiring a professional exterminator.

Effective pest management: Professional exterminators know how to handle different pest problems effectively. Many of them are usually equipped with the right technology and application techniques. Thus, by hiring one, you will be able to get total value for money.

Guarantee: Professional exterminators usually give their clients a written guarantee which normally forces them to provide high-quality services. A written guarantee can basically be your best assurance that you will be able to live in a pest-free home after the experts complete the insect control.

Resources: Professional exterminators usually use different resources to eradicate pests. Many of the resources used help them carry out the eradication tasks without causing any harm to themselves and their clients. Thus, by hiring their services, you will basically be able to avoid causing unnecessary harm to yourself or your loved ones.
